About Us
An affordability calculator that isn't selling anything
TrueAfford was built on a simple observation: almost every home, mortgage, rent, and car affordability calculator online is owned by a company that profits when the number it shows you is bigger — a lender, a real-estate portal, or a lead-gen business. This site has no leads to sell, so it has no reason to inflate the answer.
What we're trying to do
Give you a straight answer to "what can I actually afford" — using your real income, your real debts, and real expenses like childcare, healthcare, and groceries that most calculators leave out entirely. Every result shows both what a lender would likely approve and what your household can actually sustain month after month, because those two numbers are often different, and the gap between them matters more than either number alone.
How this is different
- No ads, no lender placements, and no "recommended offers" next to your result.
- No account, no email gate, and no lead form standing between you and a number.
- State-level property tax and insurance data instead of a single national average.
- A maintenance reserve included by default — a real cost of ownership most calculators quietly skip.
- Every formula, assumption, and data source published on the methodology page, dated and sourced, so it can be checked rather than trusted blindly.
All of the calculations run in your browser. Nothing you type into a calculator is sent to or stored on our servers — see the privacy policy for the details.
